Block Descriptions


​in-class blocks

Badminton

Brush up on your badminton skills and play a match against other students

Basketball/Floor Hockey

Alternate playing either basketball or floor hockey.  Students will do skill specific work as well as scrimmage

Cardio/Circuit Training

Learn a variety of different high intensity, heart pumping workouts in a circuit style involving a variety of workout equipment.

Dance

Learn a variety of different dances from other students.  These styles may include ballet, barre, hip-hop, breakdance, swing dance, ballroom etc.

disc Sports

Play a variety of games using nothing but a frisbee.  Great team sport games and competitions in this class.  This is an outdoor block.

Female Fitness

Participate in instructor directed workouts in a female only environment

Ice Sports

A outdoor block that involves playing many winter games on ice.  You must have ice skates before joining this block.

Indoor Soccer

Work on your soccer skills and scrimmage against other students

Instructor Directed Workout (IDW)

Participate in workouts that are led by a teacher.  These workouts may include spin classes, group fitness classes, yoga classes, circuits etc

Intramural Sports

Play a variety of team sports over the course of this block.  Sports may include soccer, basketball, floor hockey, tchukball and dodgeball

Nutrition

Learn about nutrition in our kitchen.  You will have the opportunity to find healthy recipes and make them in kitchen

Outdoor Activities

Participate in a variety of activities in the great outdoors.  These activities may include but are not limited to football, soccer, broomball, cross country skiing, skating, snowshoeing and snow fort building

Powerwalking

This block takes place outside.  Dress for the weather and get ready to powerwalk around the neighbourhood

Resistance Training

Develop and execute a resistance training workout in our weight room facilities

Table Tennis & Circuits

Take on another student in a game of table tennis while also getting in a cardio and muscular strength workout in a circuit

Touch Football

Develop your football skills and scrimmage with classmates

Track & Field

Run, jump, and throw.  We do it all!  Learn the basics of track and field events in a fun group environment, such as long jump, high jump, javelin, sprinting, shotput, hurdles, and more!

Spin & Circuits

Get a great cardio and resistance workout using our spin bikes and TRX suspension trainers.  These classes are led in a group fitness type of setting.

Stress Management

Learn signs, symptoms and stress management strategies

Yoga

Your teacher will take you through a sequence of yoga poses in an instructor directed format

FLEX blocks

Dragonboating

Paddles up! The dragonboat team starts to practice in April and May with a competition in early June.  Mr. Poulton is the head coach for this activity!

Dude Day

An all male field trip that has the guys do lots of activities such as wall climbing, parkour, weightlifting, and more.  Topics that are related to men's health and fitness are also discussed.

Girl Power

An all female field trip that has the guys do lots of activities such as hot yoga, spin classes, zumba, and more.  Topics that are related to women's health and fitness are also discussed.  

wall climbing

3 evenings of wall climbing at a wall climbing facility.  

Wilderness

Are you in Wilderness with Mr. Bailey?  Going on one of the wilderness trips he offers will count as a block for phys. ed..  

zumba

A fun dance class with heart pumping music, lots of fun, and a great atmosphere.  A zumba instructor comes in to teach this block.
